ZooZBeatZooz Mobile, is a small group of graduates and faculty from the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology who decided to bring some pretty cool projects from their labs to the hands of everyone.

ZooZBeat is the first Zooz’s application ported to S60 devices that lets you make loops of music of varying complexity.

ZooZBeat is an accelerometer based mobile musical studio, simple enough for non-musicians to immediately become musically expressive but rich enough for experienced musicians to push the envelope of mobile music creation.

Start playing with just a click or select among background beats in a variety of styles. Use shake and tilt movements, tap the screen, or press the keypads to create and modify rhythmic and melodic lines. Based on years of research, our propriety musical engine will interpret your actions into beautiful music that fits your style.
ZooZBeat N95 Group Jam

There is a free Lite version which features 2 background beats and 10 instrument sounds, pretty limited in my personal opinion but at least it is free. Anyway, if you like it and if you need more powerful music composing tool you can upgrade it to full version for $2.99 to double amount of beats and instruments and unlock few more cool features like voice recording and the ability to save/load tracks.

Unfortunately, application is only compatible with pre-FP2 phones, (Nokia N95/N82/N93i) but I hope they'll soon release a version compatible with new S60 sensor framework and all accelerometer equipped FP2 devices like, Nokia N96, Nokia N85, Nokia N79, 6210 Navigator, Nokia E66, as well as first 5th ed phone, Nokia 5800.
